About Gulshan 2
Gulshan 2 is a busy hub divided into two sides by a large roundabout connecting it to Banani and Baridhara. Expect lots of eateries, shops, and businesses; making it reminiscent of the nearby Gulshan 1 and Banani areas. The south side of Gulshan 2 is an assortment of different kinds of business, from flower shops to bank head offices. The northern side of Gulshan 2 is a beautiful and well-planned location. But what stands out the most is the sheer number of embassies found here. This created the need for the location to be highly secure and is a great place to live if you can afford it.
NEIGHBOURHOOD
Community
Though Gulshan 2 is known more for its commercial aspect and for its numerous embassies, a budding community exists. Housing here is among the most sought after due in part to its security, access to the unending list of facilities in the area, and proximity to other major areas. To create a more conducive environment for children and adults alike, Gulshan 2 has a number of parks and jogging locations that the community here can make use of.
Properties in Gulshan 2
Gulshan as a whole was meant to be a residential area but time led it in a different direction and it is now a commercial hub for small and big companies alike as well as embassies. Gulshan 2 in particular is well known for places to eat, shopping spots like Pink City and Unimart, and the offices of countless business. Properties here vary greatly to accommodate such diverse occupants.
But business hasn’t stopped people from making homes here. You can find some beautiful houses along the inner roads of Gulshan 2 and these are in huge quantities.
Transportation
Gulshan 2 is well connected to Gulshan 1 via the exclusive Dhaka Chaka service. The Gulshan Chaka service will extend the reach of direct connectivity from Banani Kakoli to Badda’s Notun Bazaar. The most frequented mode of transportation within the area is Rickshaw along the back-roads. Moving around from or to long distance is, however, heavily reliant on private transportation, ride sharing services, or smaller public transportation options like CNGs.
Educational Institutions
To accommodate the children of the budding societies fortunate enough to have homes here and in nearby areas, Gulshan 2 has a wide range of schools and educational institutions. From Scholastica School Gulshan to Manarat Dhaka International School and College, education for everyone is made easily accessible so no child falls behind.
Medical Institutions
There are many clinics and medical centers around the Gulshan 2 area to cater to the needs of everyone here. Alongside them, two major names and spots that should be remembered are LabAid and United Hospital. These are two of the most renowned hospitals in the country and are evenly spaced apart to cover both the northern and southern halves of Gulshan 2.
Parks & Recreation
Gulshan 2 was well planned out all around. There is designated space for businesses, great allocation for residential property, and even recreation was kept in mind. The area has many places to play, jog and just relax like Gulshan Health Club, Gulshan Lake Park and Gulshan Youth Club (GYC). GYC is the most noted recreational spot in the area. The field, basketball court and jogging track are open to all, with a tennis court for members of the club. But it’s not the only club here. With all the embassies and foreign delegates around, you can find places like Nordic Club, Dutch Club, and International Club Dhaka.
Religious Institutions
A huge area such as Gulshan 2 requires equally large mosques to accommodate the devout. To the north is the Gulshan Society Jame Masjid nestled on the corner of a beautiful lake and park. To the south, and the larger of the two mosques, is the renowned Gulshan Central Masjid (Azad Masjid) considered by many to be the most beautiful mosque in the country with its uniquely architecture pillars and grand empty space.
Nearby Areas
Gulshan 2 shares a major road with always-busy Gulshan 1. The huge roundabout that separates Gulshan 2 into two parts also connects it to Baridhara in the east and Banani to the west. All these direct connections to some of the most influential places in Dhaka give Gulshan 2 great value in terms of business and residential facilities.
LIFESTYLE
Food & Restaurants
Gulshan 2 is no stranger to wonderful and various types of food. From Japanese to Mexican food, everything is available here. The most frequented places to eat are Prego in Westin, Sausly’s, Peyala, Cuppa Coffee, IZUMI, Courtyard Bazaar and El Toro Mexican. If you like dessert, you could always try Butlers Chocolate Café or Movenpick. Another night-time hotspot is GPR, short for Gulshan Plaza Restora. It’s an immensely popular meeting place for late-night hangouts. And for those looking for an assortment of foods, Chef’s Table on top of Unimart is a great place to eat. The food court has a wide range of food and though almost all the seating is indoors, outdoor seating with a great view is available.
Accommodations
As expected with busy places like Gulshan 2, there are numerous places and ways to reside here. There are hotels like the giant Westin Dhaka with unparalleled services, alongside Six Seasons, Long Beach Suites Dhaka, Lakeshore Hotel Gulshan and Amari. But to accommodate more personalized stays or stays for longer periods of time, there are a handful of guest houses like Green House Guest House.
Shopping
Gulshan 2 is a diverse location all sorts of shopping facilities. You can get your morning shopping done at a wet market and spend your evening looking at fashion brands at Pink City. If you want lots of foreign grocery shopping done, maybe Unimart is the place for you. Gulshan 2 Market (DCC Market) used to be the go-to for shopping before it unfortunately underwent a massive fire. It is however back in business with shops open on the ground floor and is expected to run at full capacity within a few years. For every shopping need, Gulshan 2 has an answer.
