With the official inauguration of the Padma Bridge, the fate of the people of the South-Western part of the country is expected to change significantly. The people of 21 districts are now hoping for a prosperous future in terms of development prospects. Not only will the communication system of the region with the whole country including the capital Dhaka be easy, but this region will also attract more attention in terms of business and trade.

Most importantly, this bridge connects Bangladesh to the Asian highway. As a result, along with the economy, the country’s southwestern region is expected to witness an increase in employment.

Moreover, 21 districts in the South-Western Region will now be benefiting from the connection including Khulna, Bagerhat, Jessore, Satkhira, Narail, Kushtia, Meherpur, Chuadanga, Jhenaidah, and Magura of the Khulna Division, Barisal, Pirojpur, Jhalokati, Patuakhali, Barguna and Bhola of the Barisal Division and Gopalganj, Faridpur, Madaripur, Shariatpur and Rajbari of the Dhaka Division.

Industrialization work has already started in 21 districts of the southern region thank to the Padma Bridge. The benefits of the Padma Bridge are already being realized especially at Mongla port as shipments of numerous items are being delivered across the country directly from the port already. A number of cement factories are already operational and export-oriented industries including garments are also being developed. If experts are to be believed, this region will play a crucial role in building the country’s economy.
