In the Quran, it is said that Laylatul Qadr (the Night of Power and Fate) is “better than a thousand months”(97:3). Any actions done on this night is better than any actions done for one thousand months which do not contain the night of Qadr. Allah’s messenger devoted the last ten days of Ramadhan to prayer and Dhikr. Each and every good deed from Maghrib until Fajr on Laylatul Qadr is rewarded a minimum of at least 83 years of worship.
The Prophet said: Whoever prays during the night of Qadr with faith and hoping for its reward will have all of his previous sins forgiven.” (Bukhari and Muslim recorded from Abu Huraira).
So here are some things you can do for the last ten days of Ramadhan to maximize the benefits:
After your Taraweeh prayers, donate to the mosque. We spend so much money on a regular basis to shop and on food so making this small donation shouldn’t be too much to ask. Any good act such as charity during Laylatul Qadr is rewarded like you have done it for over 83 years.
- Attend Taraweeh more than you have done all monthEven if you couldn’t attend Taraweeh during the month of Ramadhan due to work or other commitments; give some extra effort to go for Taraweeh during the last ten days. Try to worship all ten days to get the incomprehensible rewards of Laylatul Qadr.
- Set your alarm for TahajjudYou might be thinking how difficult it already is to wake up for suhoor. How could you wake up earlier? But you should know that the time for Tahajjud is very blessed as Allah is the closest to us then and answers our forgiveness and prayers to him.
Read the Quran
Muslims are encouraged to seek the night of Laylatul Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan. This is the night that is described as better than a thousand months (Quran 97:3), and it is the one on which the Quran’s revelation began. It is beneficial to read the Quran during these ten days.
Make the last fasts really count
The last ten days really test your patience and it gets difficult to fast. But this is time to really focus and maintain your fast the right way. We usually tend to lose our tempers or succumb to foul language. So restraining yourself from these actions is the best thing to do.
Make a list of Surahs
We usually make small surahs in our prayers. But now, try to make an effort to list some surahs that you don’t usually recite in your prayers. Then recite these surahs in your prayers to really benefit from them. Also don’t forget to see the translation in the language of your choice to understand the meaning. It is also very important to know what it means when you recite the surahs.
