Gulshan is one of the swankiest areas of Dhaka. Equipped with every amenity and facility, the lifestyle of Gulshan is much more improved compared to most areas. Although originally planned for residential purposes, Gulshan turned into a new commercial hub of the capital. That is why, a lot of people live in Gulshan and its surrounding areas like Banani, Niketan, Baridhara. However, for them life is not just about keeping up with the pace, they need leisure and recreation too. And the parks of Gulshan, in that regard, play the most crucial role.

Gulshan South Park

Gulshan South Park
This is the only park in Gulshan 1 area

As the name suggests, the park is located in the south of Gulshan Avenue (Gulshan 1), adjacents are Gulshan Police Plaza and Shooting Club. Although the park is located in Gulshan, the residents of Niketan area also enjoy its benefits due to having located in close proximity.

Although the park is a bit compact, it’s very immaculate. During every seasonal change, Jarul, Krishnachura, and Shimul bloom to create a wonderful atmosphere. Inside the park, there is a beautiful walkway, benches for sitting, and a setting for children to play with swings.

The park has been illegally occupied for more than 25 years. It was vacated in a special initiative in 2005 and opened in 2007 as a public park under RAJUK. The park is ideal for morning or afternoon walks and sightseeing.

Gulshan Lake Park

On the opposite side of Gulshan South Park, at the very North-Western end of Gulshan 2, is located Gulshan Lake Park. This is the only park in the country with an entire lake inside. The park was originally built with the lake in the center. So the location of the park covers most of the space inside.

Gulshan Lake Park is one of the most popular parks of Gulshan. The interior of the park is nicely arranged and well maintained. The security is very tight in the park. There is a bridge over the lake. Although this park is close to Gulshan 2, people come here from other areas and sometimes use it for taking pictures due to its natural beauty.

This park has a beautiful jogging track inside, which is great for morning or afternoon walks. There is also a special zone for kids to play. And if you are thirsty, there is a vending machine inside the park to buy a variety of soft drinks.

Justice Shahabuddin Park

Located on the south of Gulshan Lake Park, Justice Shahabuddin Park is one of the finest parks of Gulshan. Many of the embassies including Polish and Saudi Arabia are located near the park which makes it one of the prominent areas of Dhaka. The interior of the park is well planned and brings joy while strolling. And for being located in such a lavish area, it offers more facilities and amenities than many other parks. Inside the park, there is a basketball and a badminton court. The lovely tree-shaded walkways are there to ensure enjoyable morning or evening walks. There is a reservoir in the middle of the lake with a beautiful fountain to enhance the beauty of the park.

Baridhara Lakeside Park

The last park that we will talk about does not have Gulshan in its name but it is easily accessible for every resident of Gulshan and nearby areas. Baridhara Lakeside Park is located on the Eastern side of the Gulshan 2 circle. It is also very close to one of the most prominent diplomatic zones of the capital. The Embassy of the United States of America, the Embassy of Japan, the Embassy of China, the Embassy of Turkey, and the Indian High Commission are adjacent to the park. It is not only the most well-maintained park but also the most secure park in the country. Due to its tight security, almost everyone has to go through a thorough security check when entering the park. However, once inside, one can see the extraordinary beauty of the park.

All the parks of Gulshan have a refreshing vibe to them. It may be because they all are very well maintained or maybe it’s because of their beautiful location. These are also the reason why these parks stand out from the rest of the parks in Dhaka.
