Winter is all about being cozy and wrapping yourself up in blankets, knitted woolen sweaters, and warm socks. Getting out of bed becomes increasingly harder on a chilly winter morning. But once you get up, the delightful appeal of winter overwhelms you with its splendor. Everything is a bit more steady, a bit calmer in winter. Even smelling the chilly weather is sensational. From the mesmerizing sunset to letting the brisk wind brush your body, there is so much to enjoy than just locking yourself up in the warmth of your home in winter. All you need to do is just step outside the house. That said here are the top 3 places to enjoy winter inside Dhaka.

Boat ride on a wintry evening is sensational

The sparkling beauty of Purbachal can truly be experienced through the amicable lifestyle of the people residing in the area. Although the area goes through frequent developments, the majority of Purbachal is still bare. People here are very welcoming and live an unblemished life far from the chaos of the mechanical city. But that is not the reason why this area is special though. What sets this place apart is the dynamic nature of the scenic beauty that changes with every season.

That being said, in winter, the area of Purbachal thrives with all its grandeur. Every part of Purbachal by the Balu river goes through a makeover. Starting from the smell in the air, the entire vibe of the area changes along with nature. Just strolling through the empty streets of Purbachal in winter can give you an electrifying experience. But you will fall in love with the river once you take the boat ride. At night the entire place becomes heavenly. Just imagine taking a boat ride with your significant other at night accompanied by a pearly moon in the winter.

The area beside the Neela market, in particular, becomes an amalgamation of local food and culture during winter. With a never-ending festive vibe that stays the same throughout the year and temporary local food stalls, this area transforms into a party haven for those who want to enjoy the weather and taste the delicious local cuisine of winter. From rice cakes and chapti (one kind of thin roti) to mouthwatering duck curry, one can find a whole host of winter food there. These make Purbachal one of the best places to enjoy winter inside Dhaka.

Chef’s table is one of the most popular places to be in winter

Enjoying winter is not only about the weather, it’s also about the food. And what better place to have delicious food than Chef’s Table Courtside. Located at a distance of about 4 km from the Natun Bazar Mor, Chef’s table is an open setting establishment with plenty of multi-cuisine restaurants under the same roof surrounded by scenic natural beauty. This place boasts a small park for children to enjoy all kinds of fun activities.

But what makes this one of the most captivating places to enjoy winter inside Dhaka is the location and the unique design of the establishment. Every restaurant here is made out of uniquely designed containers with glass doors and windows, offering both indoor and outdoor sitting arrangements. Chef’s Table Courtside is more lively during the evening than it is in the morning. When night falls, the area completely transforms into a different place with shining lights and bright colors, making it one of the hottest places to enjoy winter inside Dhaka both literally and figuratively.

Such an open space attracts hundreds of locals to spend some time there

There is no better way to enjoy winter’s solitude than a place surrounded by a river amid the serenity of nature. Thikana Day Outers resort provides just that! Located just 3 km away from the Chef’s Table Courtside, this is the ultimate place to be in winter. A mega multi-storey setting that resembles the rural architecture of Bangladesh by the Balu river will leave you speechless once you get there. This is the highlight of the entire area.

The wide outdoor space is hemmed with verdant greenery and is excellent for passing leisure time in the afternoon. Just standing by the river during the sunset and letting the cold breeze brushing your skin can be an exhilarating experience. At night, the entire place comes to bloom when the colorful LED lights adorning the facade of the building shine through the misty weather. Unfortunately, there is no night time accommodation facility if anyone wants to spend a night there. Getting into Thikana is not free, a payment of BDT 200 has to be paid per person as an entry free.

If you find it hard to get there, Thikana currently provides a pick and drop service. Just give them a call.

Be it a place by the river, or an open wide restaurant setting, winter prompts every place to project a unique appeal. Sadly, there are only a handful of places inside the city to appreciate winter to its fullest.
