We all love to dine out once in a while with friends and family. For most of us, when we choose to visit a restaurant, we mostly go there for the food or the ambiance. Sometimes, we also visit restaurants that are based on some quirky themes, such as horror or hospital themed restaurants. These themes might seem unusual, but are actually pretty common all over the world, even in Bangladesh. But have you ever thought about restaurants where you can dine underwater, or have a monkey serve you food? Sounds pretty wacky, right? Well, in today’s article, we will be discussing some of the world’s most unusual restaurants. Let’s begin!

Ithaa Restaurant, Maldives

Underwater Life
Imagine Dining Underwater With The Fishes

Located in the Conrad Maldives Rangali Resort in the Maldives, the restaurant seems like most other fine dining restaurants serving fusion cuisine. Except for the fact that it’s located 16 feet below the ocean! Encased completely by glass from the top and sides, Ithaa Restaurant provides an immersive underwater dining experience for its customers. You will be able to see the fishes swimming around coral reef gardens. Paired with amazing food and services, this underwater experience makes Ithaa Restaurant not only one of the world’s most unusual restaurants but maybe even one of the best overall dining experiences in the world.

Bird’s Nest Restaurant, Thailand

This restaurant, located in the Soneva Kiri Eco Resort in Thailand, offers a unique and unforgettable dining experience. As you can guess by its name, the restaurant is an actual bird’s nest nestled on a tree and offering a bird’s eye view of the surroundings. Bird’s Nest Restaurant offers gourmet meals that are served by waiters delivering food using ziplines. Customers can enjoy a delicious meal while admiring the surrounding view. All in all, the surreal experience of dining inside a nest makes it one of the world’s most unusual restaurants to dine in.

Kayabukiya Tavern, Japan

Monkey Looking At Mirror
Monkeys are famous for their intelligence

The Kayabukiya Tavern seems like any old Japanese restaurant. However, the restaurant has an ace up its sleeve. Located in Utsunomiya, which is a city north of Tokyo, Kayabukiya Tavern has two cute macaque monkeys serving as waiters. The owner of the shop first brought these two monkeys in as pets, and sometimes made them run certain errands in the restaurant, mostly to attract attention and customers. Slowly, the monkeys learned to take the customer’s orders and serve them food and drinks. Being massive crowd-pleasers, they earn a lot of tips. But they do not accept money. Only boiled soya beans will do for them. Overall, the two cute macaque monkeys make dining in at Kayabukiya Tavern a truly surreal experience.

Chillout Ice Lounge, Dubai

For a place that is as hot and dry as Dubai is, the Chillout Ice Lounge feels extremely out of place, and truly absurd. But that’s also what makes it great. The Chillout Ice Lounge is a cafe that is completely made out of ice. The cafe provides it’s patrons with jackets, gloves, shoes, and a hat, as it can be extremely cold inside. Everything inside is made out of ice, even the seats and tables. With beautiful ice sculptures and mesmerizing illumination, the Chillout Ice Lounge might just be one of the world’s most unusual restaurants.

Giraffe Manor, Kenya

Giraffe
The giraffe is known to be gentle

A fancy boutique hotel located right next to a giraffe sanctuary in the heart of Nairobi, Giraffe Manor offers its guests an unforgettable breakfast, lunch, and dinner experience. Constructed in 1932 as a Scottish hunting lodge, it was purchased by American conservationist Betty Leslie-Melville to breed Rothschild Giraffes and reintroduce them to the wild. Her son later converted it into a luxury hotel. Diners at the hotel will sometimes see giraffes coming out of the forests and peeking into the large windows looking for food. It is a beautiful sight and makes dining at Giraffe Manor one of the most immersive experiences ever.
