It is interesting to look back at the year through the eyes of Google. To begin the year, a whopping 406 million worldwide searches were entered for the Oscars. Around the world, the pinnacle of the acting calendar always grabs people’s attention. In February/March the cricket world cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand mustered up over 323 million searches. April saw the FIFA organization in crisis, with the scandal of Sepp Blatter and the corruption that ran to the core of the football institution. Everything was called into question, whether Kuwait should go ahead with hosting in 2018, despite the revelations that bribes were handed to buy votes. It became clear very quickly that FIFA as we know it needed a massive overhaul. April also had the devastating Nepal earthquake and people were quick to search on google to find out how to help or what had happened. The…

Real estate agents can make even the most unattractive properties sound tempting, by using buzzwords which often hide the real meaning. So how can you decode classifieds to find out what a property is actually like? We have translated 10 of the most overused buzzwords in the real estate industry, to help house-hunters to recognize when agents are exaggerating. 1. “Quaint” If a property listing describes the house or apartment as ‘quaint,’ the chances are high that in reality it is small. More specific details about the distance from train tracks or busy main roads will reassure house-hunters.…

Finding a buyer for your home is a long and arduous process which takes time. It usually requires around 10 weeks to sell your house, so we have compiled a timeline to help you out. 10 weeks left: Set your budget and apply for a mortgage Go through your finances and work out to the penny how much you can afford to spend. Don’t forget all the extra costs involved, such as legal fees and surveyors as these can add up to be quite substantial. In one of our recent estate agent surveys, the theme of market absorption rate appeared frequently. It is a term that people kind of fear, mostly because they assume you need a degree in economics to get your head around it. That is not true at all, and in this blog post, we will take you through the finer point of this much talked about real estate term. Market absorption rate is the number of months it would take to sell all the homes that are listed for sale if no further homes were added to the listings. So say the rate in Dhaka is 6, that suggests it would take six months to sell all the remaining houses that are listed, albeit with no other homes listed in the interim. When you are looking for a new real estate agent like ABC Real Estates Limited a good question to…
