But the magnificent allure of these destinations doesn’t always come cheap. There are places in the world so luxurious and expensive that even a one-course meal can cost you hundreds of dollars. But, then again, the overall experience these places offer is unprecedented. That being said, if you are looking for the most luxurious holiday destinations in the world, you may wish to consider one of these top five luxurious destinations.

Seychelles

Seychelles is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world

Located in the middle of the Indian Ocean, off East Africa, Seychelles is a country composed of 115 islands. However, the island of Fregate located just south of the main island of Mahe is really what lands Seychelles on the list and makes it one of the most luxurious holiday destinations in the world. Although the other islands can be expensive and luxurious to visit as well. Fregate takes “luxurious” to a whole new level.

The island is a private resort dotted with 16 lavish villas. All of them are made out of mahogany and African teak wood, featuring marble floors, ocean views, jacuzzis, and infinity pools. Activities include windsurfing and guided hiking and other amenities include 2 outdoor pools, a yacht club, and a dive center, plus sports courts, 7 private beaches, and a luxe spa. But there is a term everyone must comply with in order to avail the resort. One must rent villas for at least 3 days and rates start around $3,000—or about $1,000 USD a day.

Bora Bora

Tucked away in the South Pacific Ocean, this tiny island in French Polynesia is nothing less than a treasure. Although offers a luxurious experience through and through, an average night on the island will cost you a minimum of $800. Also, you have to consider the expense of getting to the island; airfare to the middle of the South Pacific isn’t exactly cheap.

Regardless, Bora Bora attracts tons of tourists round the year including celebrities, business elite and political magnates. There are many islands in French Polynesia that can offer a somewhat similar experience with a lower price tag. However, if it is Bora Bora you covet, be sure to look for all-inclusive vacation deals and hotels that offer discounted rates if you are up for spending multiple days. You can also visit during the off-season, between December and March, to chalk up a better deal.

Tuscany

Tuscany, Italy
Tuscany is all about art and culture

Although the second most visited place in Italy, only a few people think of Tuscany when they think of visiting Italy. But for those that do may find the out-of-the-way destinations of Tuscany aren’t always affordable for a trip. That is to say, Tuscany is one of the most expensive regions in Italy. The main appeal of Tuscany lies in its history, which takes you back to pre-Roman times. It is also the most recognizable for its Renaissance art and architecture which includes Michelangelo’s “David” statue, Botticelli’s divine works in the Uffizi Gallery and the Duomo basilica.

The accommodation situation in Tuscany is different from the rest of its neighbors. There are hotels but many of them aren’t hotels at all, but ancient villas that have been converted into lavish suites for tourists with all kinds of luxurious amenities and facilities. Some of the buildings are just old barns but cost around $3,000 or $4,000 a week. Add transportation and food expenses into the bucket and you are looking at one of the most luxurious holiday destinations in the world.

British Virgin Islands

British virgin island is one of those places that doesn’t hold back when it comes to luxury

Among all the popular tourist spots around the world, the British Virgin Islands have earned themselves a reputation for being an expensive playground for the rich. Many of the islands are inhabited but those that are, offer all-out luxurious amenities and facilities. Some of them are private and accessible only to those who can afford them. The island of Guana is another expensive destination. But Guana offers no public access, which means you have to take multiple trips in order to reach your final destination.

Guana is about 895 acres with sandy white beaches. But it has accommodation facilities only for 30 guests. Various activities are offered during the stay on the island including yoga and tennis lessons, snorkeling, bird-watching, and hiking. That being said, a sea-view cottage will cost you almost $700 a night in the off-season. But you have to pay much more for a villa in the peak season of the year.

It was not an easy task to carve out a list of only five luxurious holiday destinations in the world whereas there are so many. There are many factors that contribute to making a vacation a fantastic experience. These include the location, the amenities and facilities available at your destination, the services offered and the activities available to keep you entertained during your stay which the aforementioned places deliver in spades.
