However, it is also the time of the year when many celebrations overlap. Even though there are many places to visit in winter, there are plenty of events to attend in Dhaka. Jazz Planet 2.0
Date: 01 February 2019

This is a musical event for all the Jazz lovers!
After getting a tremendous amount of positive feedback on their last event, Jazz Planet decided to host another one with a few more surprise acts. What better way to say goodbye to winter other than spending an amazing evening with your friends and family and amongst good company and even better music?
The main attraction of this event happens to be none other than the Imran Ahmed Trio, followed by other equally impressive acts, including The Seesaw Quartet led by saxophonist Rahin Haider and the Robert Russell Trio.
The Imran Ahmed Trio is one of the first to promote a prominent Jazz scene in Dhaka. They started performing all over Dhaka to create a buzz surrounding Jazz and improvisational music. Their efforts have provided exposure for this kind of exceptional music to different sorts of crowds, both locally and internationally.
The Seesaw Quartet is relatively new to the scene, but every one of the members is an experienced musician who has and still continues to work as a sideman with many other renowned local bands of Dhaka.
Lastly, the Robert Russell Trio happens to be as unique and complex as they come. The trio’s style of music is centered around elements of Asian, Middle Eastern, Jazz, Classical, Latin, and Rock music, which tells you how they stand out from the crowd!

Charukola Falgun Boron Utshob

Dhaka Art Week 2019

Dhaka Art Week is undoubtedly one of the best events and activities in February that you must attend.
The event will be showcasing the works of 35 extremely talented renowned and emerging artists. There will be a number of exhibitions starting with two installation artworks and two performance artworks. There will also be a children’s art competition, art workshops for aspiring artists and open discussions about art. For the art lovers, this is that one exhibition in Dhaka you can’t miss out on!
Dhaka Live Art Biennale
Date: 31st January – 14th February
Time: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Venue: University of Dhaka
Launched in 2017 by BACK Art Foundation, Dhaka Live Art Biennale is an international and public platform that takes place to reduce the gap between public and art. What makes this event one of the best among our list of events and activities in February is that people of all ages can be a part of this occasion. This event will also allow local artists and artists from all over the world to come together and showcase their work for the sake of art. The event will host a consolidation of aesthetic thoughts of forms from countries such as Brazil, China, Finland, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Nepal, Netherlands, Norway just to name a few. More than 100 contemporary, local and international artists and artisans will take part in this broaden practice. Additionally, the theme of this year’s event will be ‘Performing Tradition and Text’.
The inauguration ceremony of D’LAB will take place on the 31st of January to will mark the beginning of the art exhibition at the Zainul Gallery (1&2) at the Faculty of Fine Arts. Additionally, there will a number of live art installations, especially highlighting cultural practices and workshops and seminars that will be focused around the impact of art and culture on people and the economy.
Ekushey Boi Mela
Date: Month-long event
Time: 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Venue: Bangla Academy
This is definitely on the top of our list of events and activities in February. One of the reasons to love February is because one of the most awaited book fair of the year, Ekushey Boi Mela, is hosted throughout the month. Hundreds of book publishers participate in this national book fair every year. The Ekushey Boi Mela is an integral part of Bangladesh’s culture and also one of the reasons for its celebration is to commemorate the martyrs who sacrificed their lives. Each year, the fair is outdone by the previous one.
